I had an investor meeting with a friend who was running under the Democratic party for president and recently dropped out. His main focus was on ending the war and he went to Iraq a few times, meeting with some of the most influential leaders of the different Iraqi coalitions/tribes and with General Petraeus. It didn’t go the way of his high hopes, but did allow him to discover he really didn’t want to be President.

He didn’t feel he had enough support from his community/family. And I thought that was because his vision wasn’t inspiring and/or broad enough. I showed him yours which he really appreciated and thought was smart … but impossible. I said you mean improbable … but the point was it was the only vision that anyone has put out, that everyone could understand … that has the possibility of working! He didn’t want to talk politics anymore… Was tired of hearing people say impossible to him and now he had found himself saying it.

You planted the seed of groups to speak to, we’ll see what sprouts.

devi, this gives me much juicy fuel that one needs to keep blasting full force in a long-term way. i’m lucky. i get quite a few of these charges almost everyday…like how the 80-year old black woman in front of a store today just lit up when she started reading the platform. people get it. it gives them hope. they know it’s possible!

it’s amazing that we are getting to such a guy on that level…getting the ideas in the platform to infect him, effecting him, opening new possibilities within him. getting the platform to people. that is the core of this campaign. that exposes the artificial limits that everybody [in the power game] just accepts. you and i do “the impossible” everyday…it’s our bread and butter. of course the vision of society outlined in the platform is IMPOSSIBLE politically because almost everyone in politics is invested in, infected by the old ways, by the addictions of power and obscenely huge profits…the political world which depends on things NOT working. i’m a realist. i know it will be IMPOSSIBLE in that political world. but outside that political world, our vision is very practical, very doable, etc….which people get from the platform.

From Da Boyz:

” Corey told them about Cafe Leila, and about the city letter … they were shocked. Rick was waiting for the punchline, being that Frank was going to do something about it, and when it came that Frank had sent out an email to a bunch of people, including city officials, Rick said something like, “I knew that part was coming!”

“Then we headed off to poster downtown Berkeley, plastering the area, waiting for the first opportunity to get a good mocha … As we were putting up fliers outside of Mel’s, a girl came up to us asking for a flier. She said she had been watching Frank’s shows on BTV, and wanted to get a better sense of what it was all about. She just moved to the area and had seen several of his shows. We asked her what she had seen, and she said, “Well, some of them are pretty ‘scandalous’!” She said she was still trying to figure out what was going on! We told her that Frank is running for President too … “Really?!” … and gave her a platform, and she ran back into Mel’s, rejoining a group of friends and showing them the flier and the platform …”

Perspectives on the Parade

Frank,

I finally have a few minutes to sit down and reflect on the whole How Berkeley Can You Be Parade experience. Just looking at the pictures again makes me smile. Thanks again for inviting me to join you all for the day.

When I arrived at your house, Erika was already at work on decorating the cars, Corey and Alexi working on the booth. Pretty energetic for an early morning. Carl came over and helped as we covered the van and car with stars, campaign posters and peace flags. On the drive across town to the parade staging area, the van was a vision of twirling stars and one or two of the knots failed, but the super-strength magnets holding the posters on never budged.

The final prep work took place in the street with all the other parade participants. We tied balloons to both vehicles and to Frank’s chair, as the group of mediators in front practiced their skit, and costumed skaters warmed up on the street. Once the parade started moving, it was hard to tell who was having more fun, the participants or the crowds. The streets were lined by a classic Berkeley crowd, many in their finest tie-dye. I was driving the lead van, with the boom-box on the roof looping campaign slogans. It was fun to see the reactions. Some people were asking “who is Frank Moore?” while others cheered and knew Frank, Linda, Mikee and Erika from BTV. The parade moved slowly enough for Frank to press the flesh with an adoring crowd. I kept watch in the mirrors so our little caravan stayed together until we reached the Park and the next phase of the day.

We parked with the Art Cars and moved the balloons and signs to the booth. The music and the food booths and the crowds were great. The collection of Art Cars was mind boggling. After a while wandering and eating I had to get back to work. But I left smiling, reminded again why I love living and working here, surrounded by incredible people.

Hi Frank,

I’ve decided to support you in your bid to win the Presidency. Your platform is well thought out and would make a real difference.

My only suggestion is lowering your 75% flat tax on those earning over 5 million dollars per annum. Perhaps, 25% would be better.

I find you and your site inspiring.

Thank You,

first, david, i value your vote! what i need you….and people like you to do is to give copies of my platform to everybody you know… and/or whom you want to know! you can print it out at http://www.frankmooreforpresident08.com/platform-print.html.

it is an interesting suggestion. i’m open to it. what would be the reason to do it that way? in my plan the 75% rate for an individual kicks in at a million dollars a year and for a corporation 5 million dollars. i’d be incline to keep the individual rate there. but the corporate rate could be 25% for 6 milion-10 million, 50% for 11-20 million, and 75% for 20+ million.

Personal Request for Frank Moore

Dear Mr. Moore,

I am 15 years old and a collector of autographs of current and former candidates for President and Vice President. Could you please send me a personally signed, dated, and inscribed picture for my collection? I would be extremely grateful if you could just write something like “Best Wishes to Lianna Havel” on your signed and dated picture and send it to me. Any picture will do.

Also, could you please send me your genuine signature on one of your calling cards, along with a brief biography of yourself and perhaps some campaign buttons or literature from your election campaign? I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,
Lianna Havel

A Question

somebody asked: “would Frank require people to prove they had voted on the paid holiday election day in order to get the paid holiday? Was he looking for the slacker vote or the vote of responsible people?” He thought that if you just make election day a paid holiday, it wasn’t going to get anyone more to vote, it would just give the slackers a day off.

mmmm….i thought the election holiday was a no-brainer, removing needless roadblocks to people exercising their right to vote. i realize historically [to the present] politicians have always placed all kinds of hindrances to keep the WRONG people…blacks, women, workers, people of different parties, etc… from voting. but i ain’t playing those games.

but people also have the right to NOT vote. not voting can be a form of political expression. hey….if i wasn’t running, i probably wouldn’t be voting. so it would be wrong to force people to vote…to vote for “the lesser evil.”

but imagine seeing people as “slackers.” imagine that version of reality. in that version, nothing much could be done. i never have operated in that version! in reality, most people aren’t slackers. in reality we in this country have much less “off-time” than europeans. so even if the election holiday “just” gave people an extra day off, it will be a good thing!

This is a brilliant answer. Makes me proud to be your running mate. I’d like to see some of this in your platform online, or in a FAQ

Opps! This got overlooked in the flood and my current w(hi)orldwind … I read you platform … what could be better or better said…
Another stream has floated my boat … though when/if it flows toward the “political” arena again and the “Love Party” gets some momentum (in the Devi energyzone) … we’ll connect. In the meantime I will send your platform around …

Glad you all had a great day.

I like the JMS Party. Good platform. Well thought out.

How about revoking the state charters of any corporation with gross revenues over $100M. Don’t need corporations any bigger.

Nice poster and stuff! How do I get a mug?

Compared to the current crop of candidates, Frank is way over qualified.

May be a waste of a good man in a poor office, but he gets my vote.

I’m writing him in!

ken, that’s another good way to break up the over-grown corporations, and to break the addiction to obscenely huge profits…the addiction which is literally killing us. this break up is one of the main goals of my tax poilicy, etc. this will create many more smaller businesses, more competition, more opportunities, etc.

we are winning this, vote by vote!
